Affinity Glassworks Commission Process:


Initial Meeting

  • Schedule an initial complimentary consultation  with Affinity Glassworks, Inc. We will  makes an introductory presentation, showing past work and materials. We also describe the kiln – formed glass process, fabrication and installation details. Sometimes it is beneficial to meet on site to will take field measurements and assess site specific design elements such as lighting, contextual design themes, and structural requirements. If we can not meet on site, the client should bring the photos and measurements  to our studio.

Design Stage

  • When the client  is ready to have Affinity Glassworks, Inc design the artwork, a meeting is scheduled to define design of the  project. During this stage, we will ask a lot of questions: your colour, style preferences, lighting, size, environment and more.
  • During the design meeting, we educate client to the many possibilities within the medium of kin – formed glass, balancing your preferences with budget.
  • After gathering your information, we will present you with preliminary design and quote within a couple of days
  • Upon acceptance of the preliminary quote, which is subject to change pending approval of final design, we will require a 10% design retainer which is applicable to the final purchase price.
  • Within a week  from the payment of a design retainer our design staff will have a scaled colored rendering of your commission ready for your review. At this time, a meeting will be scheduled at our studio to show you the rendering  and present you with a palette of glass types to be employed in the project. Once the client approves the design and materials, a formal contract is submitted. At this time, we  will require a 50% deposit. You will be given an approximate time line for the fabrication of the commission,

Fabrication

  • After the signed contract and initial payment is returned to Affinity Glassworks, materials are ordered and fabrication begins upon receipt of the materials.
  • Upon the completion of the fabrication of your commission, we will invite you to view it at our studio. We will require payment of the balance due, before your work is picked up for installation.
